I am a sailor software engineer with a master’s degree in engineering physics. Currently I am exploring the intersection of data, software and maritime shipping. Sometimes I publish pictures of the world.
I have been hooked by the sea all my life. As a teenager I started sailing Tall Ships and building on that I have on and off worked in the maritime industry as a captain on tall ships, cruise ships and passenger vessels for near-shore operations.
My software life began with some early forays into C, C++ and Macromedia Dreamweaver in my early teens. Later making user made games for Warcraft III using the magical language vJASS in the late 2000s.
Intersecting software and the maritime industry I conducted my thesis at RISE (Research Institutes Of Sweden) exploring how to predict ship risk using AI and machine learning methods.
Previously I worked at Validio developing deep data observability in Rust, Go and Python.
